Fading Away

Rikke Lundgreen and Phil Sayers reconstructed Henry Peach Robinson’s 1858 combination print Fading Away. By masquerading all of the characters they question the interpretation of this formal yet melodramatic 19th Century image.

Sayers & Lundgreen’s reconstruction was assembled digitally from five transparencies which corresponded to those of Peach Robinson’s original.
